Pep Guardiola, whose side were outplayed in Portugal on Wednesday, remains Manchester City's first choice to replace under-fire Manuel Pellegrini. He has a year remaining on his contract in Germany but a quarter-final Champions League exit, which now seems like a real possibility, could help persuade his employers let him go this summer.
