The 19-year-old Ivory Coast youth international thus joins a
never-ending list of the youngsters that the Blues have farmed out on
loan all over the globe.
According to Belgian outlet Het Belang Van Limburg , the
Belgian club will not have a right of redemption on the 19 year old once
the loan tenure ends. Angban spent the second half of last season out
on loan with French club Bastia, after joining Chelsea in the winter
transfer window from Stade d’Abidjan. Liverpool were also interested in
signing the midfielder back then, and he was considered one of the best
young players in Africa.
Chelsea confirmed the news via a statement on their official website which stated :
“Bekanty Victorien Angban has today moved on loan to Belgian club
Sint-Truidense for the 2015/16 season. The 18-year-old Ivorian, who
signed in January from Stade d’Abidjan FC, is a central midfielder who
played and scored for his nation at this year’s African Under-20
Championship finals.”
Angban is the latest entrant in a very long line of Chelsea
youngsters that are currently on loan all over Europe, either to ease
their work permit grant in England or to make substantial profit by
selling them. In fact , he becomes the sixth player to move on in just
the last five days.
Isaiah Brown and Brazilian youth international Nathan have headed to
the Netherlands and join teammates Lewis Baker and Danilo Pantic as part
of a long-established partnership with Eredivisie side Vitesse, while
Andreas Christensen joined Borussia Monchengladbach and Josh McEachran
opted to leave for Brentford on a permanent transfer.
Marco van Ginkel is set to spend next season with Stoke City
following an injury-disrupted spell in Serie A with AC Milan and
Christian Atsu will look to recover from a disappointing stint at
Everton after joining newly-promoted Bournemouth.
As for Angban, this loan move seems to be the first of many to come ,
as he begins to find his feet and settle in for the long haul.
