New Liverpool signing Christian Benteke has revealed reasons why he signed for the Anfield outfit.
Liverpool on Wednesday, July 22 completed the £32.5m signing of the 24-year-old Belgian from Aston Villa after months of reported interest.
Benteke came to England in 2012 and have scored 42 league goals in 88 games for Aston Villa.
Speaking about the move Benteke said his chat with Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers convinced him to join the club.
"I'm
very happy to be here and I would like to thank the owners, Ian (Ayre)
and of course the manager for their massive effort to bring me here," Benteke told Liverpool website.
"I think it was the right club for me because I had a good chat with the manager and I wanted to be part of his project.
"I
know Liverpool is a big story. They've won (many) league titles and the
Champions League five times and of course the UEFA Cup and a lot of
trophies. I know it's a big club."
Ahead of him medicals yesterday, Benteke's partner was seen with their young child outside Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool.
After spending his vacations in America, Benteke will join about several other new Liverpool signings to prepare for the new season.
Liverpool meet Stoke City away from home, on Sunday August 9, for their first game of the 2015-16 Premier League season.
