Chelsea have announced their squad numbers for the new season – and there are a few surprises.
It’s always an exciting moment in the summer when the new numbers come out, signalling that the new Premier League season is approaching quickly.

The Blues have made two signings so far, and both have been given controversial numbers.
New arrival Radamel Falcao, who has arrived on loan from Monaco, has taken the tainted number nine shirt at Stamford Bridge, despite needing all the help he can get to start scoring goals.

Elsewhere, Thibaut Courtois was expected to take the vacant no.1 top following Petr Cech’s exit to Arsenal. But that’s not happened.
Courtois has kept his 13 jersey and new signing Asmir Begovic has taken 1 instead. It’s probably about as close as he’s going to get to becoming Chelsea’s number one anytime soon though…
